Artist James Varney has created an enigmatic life-sized figure of woman crucified on a large wooden cross with a globe of the planet in her womb. Titled "Mother Earth Crucifix," the figure is made out of wrought inlaid with nearly 3000 pieces of stained glass and illuminated from within. It took Varney over 2 ½ years to create this innovative three dimensional art work in his solar powered studio near Poughkeepsie, New York. The Mother Earth Crucifix stands 9 feet tall and the cross is 6 feet wide. The interior lighting makes the subtle colors of the stained glass glow with luminosity. For more information visit:
